Commission Info Non-Commercial commissions are currently closed to complete previous commissions and projects.
General Information:
- I reserve the right to decline any commission request without question- I reserve the right to include any commission done in natural medium or otherwise that is not to be sent in my portfolio
- I reserve the right to display commissioned pieces on my site(s) or DeviantART gallery (if requested an original character of yours, credit to you will be noted accordingly) (if you have a problem with this rule for whatever reason, please speak to me, I’m flexible)
- I reserve the right to adjust pricing on a requested piece accordingly
- For non commercial pieces, I continue to reserve the rights to the artwork. You may use it however you please for your personal use.
- Regular commissions are NOT to be used for things like book illustrations, covers or any other publishing that depicts your work OR for any project you may hope to profit from (whether you make a profit or not). They cover non-commercial use ONLY this includes non-profit making projects like free online games. You may not make prints of my work to sell. I still hold legal rights to the art, commissioning me means agreeing to these terms. This includes but is not limited to: Book illustrations, game illustrations/concepts, adoptables/petsite pets and so forth. If you wish to have me illustrate something like this, or use my art in a commercial project it will fall under Commercial Commissions and must be discussed with me before the commission is started, the rights to the image will be included in the price for you to use as you please. You must specify if this is the case, Failure to do so may result in legal action. I also offer discounts to images ordered in bulk for these projects (such as mass character designs or sets of adoptables). Feel free to inquire about them. For art books (that you've commissioned the piece to appear in) I require a mention in the very back of the book (or wherever you might setup your credits, or for sites on the credits section of the site under the name of S.A.McGowan for my work. Standard credits for novel covers apply.
- If requested in natural medium, should something happen to it during the shipping of the piece, I am not responsible.
will not begin the piece until I have received payment, once I have received payment, I will continue to update you on the production of the piece, all pieces are begun and finished in the order that I receive payment. I will only accept so many commissions at once.
- All commissions are non refundable unless for whatever reason I can not complete the piece.
Non-Commercial Commission Types (Illustration):
Because they are non commercial, I include things like character sheets and concept work as "illustration".
CG (printed and not printed):
-Pictures done on the computer, Computer Graphics. ex: Photoshop
Natural Medium:
-Pictures done in natural mediums by hand. ex: pencil, pencil-crayon, watercolor
Mixed Medium:
-Pictures done in both natural and CG mediums. ex: pencil-crayon and Photoshop
(prices vary due to category and enclosed details, prices will be listed separately for each area)
What I Will Draw
- Original Characters (yours, mine or otherwise, If you request a character that does not belong to you or myself, you are required to obtain permission from the creator and provide me with a way of contacting them so I can confirm your permission) (I reserve the right to deny any request of one of my original characters without question)- Fan Art (fan art of a character from published series, copyright to the original creators of the character will be displayed on the picture itself, at the bottom, near my signature. I do not take commissions for Disney characters for legal reasons.)
- Shoujo and Shounen Anime/Manga Style
- Semi Realism/Realism
- Shounen-ai/Shoujo-ai
- Yaoi/Yuri/Hentai (This one will cost you)
- Chibi
- Anthro/Gijinka
- Japanese and American styles.
(all of the above subjects are available in all Mediums) (if you wish to request a subject not listed above or below, please feel free to ask) (again, I reserve the right to deny any request without question.)

- Mech (unless it is a minor part of the picture or a good reference is provided.)- Vore
- Racist or otherwise insensitive or insulting material
Special Commissions:
I also accept non-illustration commissions. These Include but are not limited to:
- Site Layout Art (this does not mean I will make you a layout. This means that you can design a layout and commission the art for the layout. I will set the art up as requested. This includes things like buttons, gifs, (animated and otherwise) rollover images etc. All images MUST be requested beforehand, once I receive payment and begin, you may not request more images after payment. Pricing for layout art will vary greatly depending on requested images and related details. This is NOT a cheep commission. Site Layout Art is only available in CG.)
- Jewelry
-Adoptables (this will cost more than a regular commission, this commission will include rights to the artwork to use as you see fit for non-profit uses (in game site currency does not count as profit use. For use on pet-sites or receiving more complete rites to the work see commercial commissions.)
Non-Commercial Price Estimates:
All of the following pricings are only rough estimates of what each commission might cost you to base your opinion around. Prices may vary depending on subject matter, detail, size, medium, etc. Commissions listed are for NON REALISMS unless otherwise stated.(all prices listed in American dollars)
CG Scetch (basic 600x700 to 800x900):
- Headshot: $10 USD

Normal CG (basic 800 x 900 ish size, fully drawn, colored and shaded):
- Head/shoulder shot Up: $30 - $40 USD
- Bust Shot: $40 - $60

-the bigger, more complicated/heavily colored the piece the more expensive it will be. most will GENERALLY fall into the above price range
-if you wish to have it printed, the price for printing will apply. I offer professional quality printing, generally on 100 weight matte paper (unless requested otherwise), watercolor and canvas.
-most normal CGs will be done in Photoshop CS2
- price covers smooth shaded style. Cell shading will cost less.
- If you wish me to make it a wallpaper larger than 1024x768 (you will not get two versions, it's either a wallpaper or it isn't) It will cost you much more, this will depend on how much BG there is and will be priced on a picture to picture bases.

-You can commission pictures MUCH smaller, in which the price will drop dramatically. Or MUCH bigger, in which it will incline dramatically.
-Acrylic or Watercolor paintings will cost more

Special Commissions: all special commission prices will be done on a request to request basis, prices can change so radically between one project and another that it is impossible to give a general rough estimate.
More Info
For commissions, you must specify certain things you WANT included, specifically in the picture, like color themes, specific backgrounds, mood you want portrayed and what have you. Please think you're request through thoroughly. If you fail to tell me something, I cannot put it in, I will not refund your money or redraw the commission for you after sketch stage. You have been warned. For things like Original characters, please describe them to me like you might describe them to a cop. Consider things like, eye shape, nose shape, face shape, height, build and so forth. References are ALWAYS welcome and VERRY helpful to me. Once I have accepted a commission, I will keep progress reports for you. If you have any form of instant messenger (I have MSN, Yahoo and AIM) I can contact you through, it is also greatly helpful in being able to ask questions.Time to complete commissions may vary, I will not start on a piece until I have received payment. If in natural medium, and you wish to have it shipped to you, you are required to specify this. I will NOT cover shipping and handling costs.
Commissions are done on a first come first serve basis. I may put you on a waiting list, or ask you to request at another time. I will only work on three at a time, the rest will be listed. If you are listed, that means I am not currently working on yours, which means you will not have to pay until I am ready to work on it. I will e-mail you when I am ready to accept payment and begin; you have until that time to back out. I will not wait around. If you fail to respond or pay when I am ready for you, you will be kept on the list and the next person’s commission will be worked on. You will be notified again when your turn comes back around. You may be removed from the list at any time. Once you have paid, I will not refund your money. I will finish your piece. Once I have accepted your commission, it will be completed. Again, I reserve the right to turn down any request without question.
Please specify medium. If you select Mixed, you must specify which ones.
